Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Policy

Principles promoting fairness, inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities throughout scholarly publishing.

The Emergency Medicine Physicians Association of Türkiye recognizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) as fundamental principles of ethical scholarly publishing and is committed to maintaining a fair, inclusive, and accessible publishing environment.

Promoting Representation

The Association supports equal participation regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic background, or geographic location.

  • Selection is based solely on scientific merit.
  • Editorial decisions are independent of personal identity, beliefs, or institutional affiliation.
  • Participation of historically underrepresented communities is encouraged.

Inclusive Editorial Structures

Editorial boards, advisory boards, and reviewer pools are encouraged to reflect diversity in disciplines, career stages, geographic regions, and perspectives. Representation is reviewed periodically.

Fair and Unbiased Evaluation

Editors and reviewers are expected to evaluate submissions impartially, professionally, and with cultural awareness. Training initiatives are supported to reduce unconscious bias.

Accessible Publishing

  • Digital content should comply with accessibility standards.
  • Technical barriers are continuously reduced.
  • Research addressing health inequalities and access to healthcare is encouraged.

Feedback and Reporting Concerns

Concerns regarding potential DEIA violations are handled independently, impartially, confidentially, and in accordance with COPE guidance.
