Editorial Oversight Policy

Editorial Independence

The Association supports the principle that all editorial decisions should be made independently by the responsible editors based solely on scholarly merit. Editorial decisions must remain free from the influence of the Association's administration, sponsors, commercial interests, or other external pressures.
Editors are appointed on the basis of academic merit, subject expertise, and commitment to publication ethics. They are responsible for safeguarding the scientific quality, accuracy, and integrity of the published content.

Peer Review and Scientific Evaluation

All manuscripts submitted to the journals are evaluated through a fair and transparent double-blind peer-review process in accordance with internationally recognized principles of ethical publishing. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who assess:

• Scientific originality and contribution to the literature,
• Methodological rigor,
• Compliance with ethical standards and required approvals,
• Accuracy, consistency, and clarity of the findings,
• Quality of reporting and reproducibility.

The confidentiality of authors, reviewers, and editors is maintained throughout the peer-review process, and all evaluations are conducted impartially and objectively.

Ethical Compliance and COPE Guidance

Editors are expected to conduct all editorial activities in accordance with the recommendations of ICMJE and COPE, together with other relevant international guidelines. Suspected cases of publication misconduct are investigated independently, confidentially, and in a documented manner following COPE guidance.

Transparency, Methodological Reporting, and Reproducibility

The Association encourages comprehensive methodological reporting and transparency of research data. Editors are expected to give priority to manuscripts that are scientifically sound, reproducible, and verifiable. Manuscripts lacking required ethical approvals or providing insufficient information for scientific evaluation may be declined without entering the peer-review process.

Management of Conflicts of Interest

Editors must disclose any personal, academic, or financial conflicts of interest related to a manuscript and recuse themselves from the editorial process whenever such conflicts exist. In these circumstances, editorial responsibility is transferred to an independent editor to ensure a fair and unbiased decision-making process.

Editorial Development and Continuing Education

The Emergency Medicine Physicians Association of Türkiye supports the continuous professional development of its editorial teams. Regular education and guidance are encouraged in areas including publication ethics, peer-review practices, editorial decision-making, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing.

Institutional Commitment

The Emergency Medicine Physicians Association of Türkiye considers the effective implementation of the editorial oversight principles outlined in this policy to be an institutional responsibility across all journals published under its auspices. The Association is committed to supporting ethical publishing, scientific excellence, editorial independence, and compliance with internationally recognized publishing standards.
