Plagiarism and Originality Policy

Definition and Scope

Plagiarism is defined as the use or presentation of another person's ideas, text, data, images, or other intellectual work without appropriate acknowledgment or citation.
The following practices are regarded as plagiarism:

• Direct Plagiarism: Copying text verbatim from another source without proper citation.
• Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one's own previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment.
• Mosaic Plagiarism: Combining material from multiple sources in a manner that creates the false impression of original authorship.
• Failure to Cite Sources: Using another author's ideas, findings, or data without proper attribution.

Authors' Responsibilities

Authors are expected to:

• Submit only original manuscripts that have not been published previously and are not under consideration elsewhere,
• Cite all sources accurately and appropriately,
• Obtain permission where required for the use of third-party copyrighted material,
• Confirm, through the required submission declarations, that the manuscript is original and free from plagiarism.

Similarity Screening and Evaluation

All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening during the initial editorial assessment using iThenticate, Turnitin, or equivalent professional similarity detection software.Similarity scores are not used as the sole criterion for editorial decisions. Even where the overall similarity index is low, substantial unattributed copying, structural duplication, or inappropriate appropriation of ideas may constitute plagiarism and publication misconduct.

Detection and Editorial Action

Suspected plagiarism may be identified:

• During the initial editorial assessment,
• Throughout the peer-review process,
• Following publication through reports from readers or other third parties.

All cases are managed in accordance with the recommendations of COPE. Where appropriate, and based on the evaluation:

• Manuscripts may be rejected.
• Published articles may be corrected, retracted, or accompanied by an Expression of Concern.
• Relevant institutions or competent authorities may be notified in cases of serious misconduct.

Editorial and Reviewer Responsibilities

Editors and reviewers are expected to report suspected plagiarism or other breaches of academic integrity promptly to the editorial office. All evaluations are conducted in accordance with the principles of editorial independence, impartiality, confidentiality, and fair assessment.
